Oaken Transformations one-year celebration – July 30

Oaken TransformationsOaken Transformations Sculpture & Poetry Walk will be celebrating one year of art and poetry on Saturday, July 30, 3-6 p.m. at 6893 Grand River Road in Brighton, Michigan.  The event is free to the public.

Poets reading include Robert Fanning (author of The Seed Thieves, 2006; American Prophet, 2009), Russell Brakefield, Ben Fidler (EMU alumnus), John Ganiard, and Audra Puchalski.  The event will also feature live music from Michigan bluegrass artists winter/sessions.

Oaken Transformations was established in 2010 by Anya Cobler, a graduate of the Eastern Michigan University’s Creative Writing undergrad program and University of Michigan’s MFA Program in Creative Writing, and her father, Dr. Fredric L. Bonine.  Oaken Transformations Sculpture & Poetry Walk is an out-of-doors art tour dedicated to showcasing work from established and up-and-coming poets and artists throughout the state of Michigan. Part nature walk, part meditative footpath, and part art installation, the tour presents a unique, physical space for poetry and a serene setting for sculptural work for sale or consignment.
