Greybook Press is having a chapbook contest. Sort of. Read full details here or below to find out what they mean.
From Greybook Press:
First of all, it’s probably not a contest because there’s no entry fee, and you don’t really win anything. It’s more like an open reading period. With a guest judge (Sandra Simonds). But, if it makes you feel better, we can call it “The First Annual Grey Book Press Summer Chapbook Prize (Judged by the Super-Rad Sandra Simonds).”
Here’s the deal: We’re looking for chapbook submissions. Manuscripts should be between 18 and 24 pages in length. Submissions will be judged by me (Scott) and Sandra. There will only be one “winner” and up to two “runners up” (or “runner ups”). Or NO “winner” and up to three “runners up.”
The “winner,” in this case, gets the relatively standard chapbook publication through Grey Book Press, with 25 author copies and a somewhat open-ended run. “Runners up” will be offered a limited-edition run of 50 copies, with 15 author copies.
Still interested? Send your manuscript as a Word attachment. Your name should NOT appear anywhere on your manuscript. The subject line of your introductory email should be “GBP Chapbook: [your name]” and then, in the body of the email, you should tell us your name and the title of the attached manuscript . . . along with whatever else you want to tell us. Deadline is midnight, July 31. “Winners” (as applicable) announced in August.
E-mail submissions to email@example.com.
