Here’s a recent annoucement from Detroit’s Scarab Club:
2010 SCARAB CLUB ARTS ANNUAL
DEADLINE: Tuesday, August 31st, 5 pm
Here is your opportunity to be published, as an added benefit of membership to the Scarab Club. All individual (or household) members are guaranteed to be included in the publication, regardless of artistic medium.The Scarab Club is continuing its commitment to The Scarab Arts Annual, the member oriented art book. Each member will be allotted a a full page. Trial members are not eligible.THE CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS is open to all individual members who are writers, painters, sculptors, jewelers, photographers, poets, writers, potters–all artistic mediums. All processes and techniques are welcomed. Work will be reproduced in color or black & white, as submitted. The lounge committee will choose the image(s) to be published in the book’s final draft. Please follow guidelines closely.
If you are not a member of the Scarab Club, but would like to become one, do not hesitate to contact the Club at (313) 831-1250, or stop by the office. The Scarab Club offers the following indivudual membership levels:
Student ($50) with valid university ID & proof of enrollment
Scarab ($120)
Patron ($350)
Life Scarab ($6000 one-time payment)SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Send up to 5 images (no less than 3). No entry form is required, but please enclose a letter (or word document if submitting online) that includes your name, address, phone number, email, titles/captions, website, and any other information pertinent to your submission. If submitting work by mail, please include a self-addressed stamped enveloped envelope (SASE) if you wish to have your submission returned to you. The deadline for submissions is August 31, 2010.TO SUBMIT FILES ONLINE
The Scarab Arts Annual only accepts files submitted online using yousendit.com. You may send up to 100 MB at a time using their free”lite Account”. Please use vato@vatophoto.com as the recipient address, and include your name in the subject header and all files. Prepare your files per the specifications* and create and send a single compressed file (zip, rar or sit). If your file size exceeds 100MB, it is okay to send two compressed files. File size is likely to be large–a high-speed internet connection is recommended. 300 PPI TIFF files, sized to approximately 8″ in the longest direction. Please include your name and the title of the image in each file name (for example: First_Last_Title.tif).Any member submitting works of poetry or fiction must submit pieces which are limited to a full page at 10 to 12-point standardized fonts, and be a Word/rtf document.
