What: BathHouse journal is sponsoring the exhibition: George Legrady, Cell Tango, in Ford Gallery. George Legrady is an internationally exhibited installation artist who is currently Professor of Interactive Media at UC Santa Barbara. Cell Tango is a dynamically evolving archive of cellphone-transmitted images contributed by participants from anywhere within the reach of cellular transmission and reception. The images/text are arranged based on data from the point of origin: cell-phone area code, carrier, time/date, and participant-contributed categories/descriptions. The data is presented by way of large-scale projections on the wall(s). Legrady’s project conducts, “aesthetic research through the implementation of complex technologies for new forms of content, narratives, experiences and analysis”. We expect the exhibit to challenge the way people define how “writing” is done, and inspire use of new technology and methods when writing. The exhibition is approved for Learning Beyond the Classroom credit so Professors/GA’s let your students know and work it into your curriculum!
When: Opening reception is Tuesday, October 21st at 4:30PM. The exhibition will run through Monday, November 24th. Check with Ford Gallery for regular hours of gallery operation. Contact Sarah Smarch with other questions, sarahsmarch <at> gmail.com
